Our mission at global 180: edu is twofold. While
serving as an activist for literacy awareness, we will use
all resources at our disposal to bring to light the enormous
problem of functional illiteracy in our nation, and to
provide a real solution to this problem. We are pursuing a
goal of eliminating functional illiteracy, one person at a
time, by providing the highest level of educational services
to as many as possible. Treating everyone as an individual
with specific needs, we evaluate each person to determine
their educational needs and provide the specialized training
to enable each to achieve their greatest potential—bringing
out the genius in each one.
Why is this so Important?.
Did you know that over 40 million adults are functionally illiterate and that only about 5% of 17 year old seniors in high school can read and understand technical reports, essays, or historical documents? To make matters worse, the drop-out rate is staggering, over 50% in many metropolitan areas. This is unacceptable! We see the end result of this crisis in rising crime, abuse, and homelessness. Crime is on the increase and our prisons are full of inmates that are there (at least partially) because they did not have the learning skills to function in today’s world. How can a person with limited education and limited learning skills be successful in our society? One survey estimates that millions of man hours are lost every year by employees who cannot effectively read and write, costing companies millions of dollars in lost productivity.
We
provide a solution that is turning this problem around. We
provide the mental skills to enable a person to not only
read, but to process, store, and retrieve information in
large amounts overcoming any previous learning problems.
Those with learning difficulties begin functioning as normal
students, and the longer they stay in the program, the better
they perform. We can take an average student and after
only a few months in our program, they become an exceptional
student. We take the exceptional student and help them excel
to higher levels. What we do is to help each person reach
their potential.
How do we do that?
Through specially designed
neurological exercises we can retrain the brain to process
information, store it in long term memory, and then retrieve
it in much less time than with conventional methods. In many
cases, new neurotransmitters are created to streamline the
brain’s function making it more efficient, thus making the
learning process easier and quicker. We now know that
by creating these neurotransmitters, the effects of
brain damage or trauma, as well as
most other learning difficulties can be overcome. Learning
becomes both easier and fun.
